Monument signs are the most common freestanding sign type today. Because they are preferred by most city planners and architects, they tend to be easy to incorporate into an existing plan for a shopping center or business site. Many monument signs are made with a decorative base with simulated stucco finish, allowing the appearance of the monument to match most popular new building styles. Monument signs are very versatile, and can be made for a single stand-alone business or a multi-tenant center, and can be internally illuminated with fluorescent lighting or externally illuminated with spot-lights.
